Therapy Quarter was founded January 1st, 2026. This is a private mental health practice serving clients from St. Louis City and surrounding areas. Kristen Hood, LCSW is the founder and operator of this business.

In 2020, she graduated with her Master’s degree in Social Work. During covid, Kristen worked primarily in the school setting providing case management and basic needs assistance for families. In post-covid times, after finding success as a school counselor and office therapist, Kristen decided to make a business of her own to provide more opportunities in St. Louis for quality mental health care.

This business currently operates virtually but is securing a physical office space to provide in-person services in the future.

About Therapy Quarter, LLC

It is no question that finding the right therapist is the key to success in therapy. With so many factors to consider, I want my clients to feel confident in their choice. I don’t want anyone to feel that they wasted time and money getting to know someone who is not the right fit for their needs.

I view the therapeutic relationship as a working relationship, and I believe that as a customer and client, you are hiring me to provide you with a service.

1. Meeting People Where They Are

I take time during the first 3 sessions to get to know you before diving into the work portion of therapy. As a provider, I want to learn about the events that lead you to seek therapy, your expectations, your goals, and your motivations.

2. Strengths Based Perspective

When someone first walks into my office or logs on virtually, I may have preconceived notions that arise in my head. This is part of being human. As your therapist, I make conscious efforts to put these notions aside and recognize them as prejudice. I do this so that I can truly see my clients for who they are-amazing individuals with spirit and drive among a myriad of other strengths.

3. Solution Focused

I pride myself on being optimistic but not to a fault. I believe that changing our circumstances often requires us to take ownership of our lives and remain focused on our ultimate goal in order to reach our full potential. Making these changes often brings on grief and other uncomfortable feelings. In addition, I acknowledge that not all situations can be fixed but rather accepted for what they are.

4. Casual and Serious

I genuinely enjoy getting to know my clients! Even though I am not your friend, I hope that when you come into my office or log on virtually, you feel a little bit like you are talking to a friend. Of course, I also give homework when appropriate!

5. Fun and Structured

Kids and adults need to have a little fun! This is especially true for children as they express their feelings through play. With children under the age of 12, I incorporate free play time at the end of session as long as we are productive with the first part of session. For teens and adults, I encourage connection through allowing them to bring in important photos or show off their latest creation!
